Innovative solutions for recycling

Another day, another award

I arrived at the office today to find that our GS-100 Glass Waste Machine has helped our friends at Carden Park win a new award.

The four-star Carden Park Hotel has received a Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS), after significantly reducing its carbon footprint. It is the highest level that can be achieved.

The staff at Carden Park now recycle 40% of all waste, including our GS-100, which transforms glass waste into a fine sand, which is then scattered on the two championship golf courses to improve drainage.

Finished Spring fair, good times!

Just finished spring fair last week. A whole 5 days of selling is indeed a very tiring job, but it was really worth it.

We managed to get good orders in on the day, but on top of that we got really good leads with big companies. Although most big companies won’t put an order in on the day of the show, they had given very positive responses to our products, and made many suggestive comments on an order which is fantastic!

So hopefully these will be out there in retail public very soon!

Would you like to see how we converted our Ikea shelves for exhibition?

Preparations for spring fair

So spring fair is coming fast and quick. It is unbelievable how much there is still to do. I think I have underestimated in some areas of the planning. One of the major setbacks was a display shelf which we wanted being unavailable… So back to the drawing board for the stand decoration…

Went to Ikea to get some inspiration… And bingo, decide that I will get all my furniture there for its cheap prices and colour scheme.

I have decided to go for the White and bright green scheme to match with the clean and bright look with a hint of environmentalism (is that a word?). Green rug, White shelves and a giant leaf at the back with a worm hanging off it. It looks really good in my mind, but will it look as good on the stand?

Here are the pictures from my Market research. What do you think?

4 days to Christmas

Now the last Christmas post has past, I finally have time to sit down and update this blog.  Things have changed so much since our last update.

Sales on NotOnTheHighStreet are booming, sales on our own site has increased by 500% over the last month, bulk sales are up and we have a new member of staff.

Danielle is our new Marketing Assistant and brings a wealth of experience to our company.  She has dived right into her role at our recent event at Carden Park by greeting visitors, and even answering any questions from guests.

The show itself went very well, the tea and cakes went down well, and we was such a hit, that we got invited into a private conferance of hotel managers to tell them about our GS100!

It hasnt been all positive news though, on a sour note, our Workshop Manager has left her position.  Her contract expired and she has decided to concentrate on her pregnancy.  We had our Christmas meal and used the occasion for her leaving party as well.  All of us here at BEEcycle would like to wish her all the very best for the future.

Until our next update, I would just like to wish our staff, our readers and everyone associated with BEEcycle a Merry Christmas and a very prosperous new year.

Another day, another deal

We are really enjoying this Christmas run for our educational toys.

Two online market leaders have placed orders for our products and we hope to increase that number during the next couple of weeks.

Workshops are picking up, we are very happy with how things are proceeding

Photoshoot

I had to spend two full days doing Photoshoots of my products. It turned out really well!

I used the company ‘keyhole studios‘ in liverpool. Eugene the photographer was really professional!

I’ve posted some pictures of the day here. This is the picture of our magic bean pod, which teaches growing without soil. The beans grown has a message on them! It is clean and funky, so you don’t get the mess of soil on the kitchen table!

To see the rest of our product range, take a look at our photogallery!

Meet the management

I think its about time to introduce you to the BEEcycle.

Meet our management team!

Kenneth – Company Director

Kenneth founded BEEcycle Ltd after graduating from York University with a Biochemistry degree.

He soon realised that a career in biochemistry was not was not what he wanted and started to write business plans with ideas which can help the environment. He submitted the plans to various competitions and won one of them held by Lancaster University. This gave him a free incubation office space and funding to start his business off. Now the business has taken off providing products, services and education in recycling.

Outside the busy life of running BEEcycle Kenneth enjoys playing badminton and playing the guitar to relax. He also has a passion for travelling and has backpacked around Europe, Africa and Asia. His current favourite country for travelling is Morocco.

Tony – Online Media and Marketing Manager

Tony joined us in 2010 to help with the online side of the business. Since he started, we have kept him busy with designing a new website, a new online shop, and a new blog. In between these tasks, Tony has also helped in our new shop in the Albert Docks, Liverpool and gave us his sales experience in our recent exhibitions.

In his spare time, Tony enjoys spending time with his 1 year old daughter (Tia) and watching his beloved Everton Football Club.

Toni – Workshop Manager

Toni helped open the Albert Dock store and her infectious smile ensures children of all ages enjoy their experience of visiting our store.

Toni organises the store and manages various displays throughout the shop. She started in 2010 and quickly inposed her presence on the company introducing the OvO perfume to our shelves.

Toni is currently pregnant with her second child due in March 2011. Her 2 and a half year old Layla keeps her on her toes even on her days off! In her spare time she also loves to dance and spend time with her family.

Back from RWM

Last week had been a busy week! The Recycle Waste Management show was a great success!

It was a tough 3 days of non-stop networking and talking to potential clients. However the bed and breakfast we stayed in was good which helped fuel the day. We stayed at the Hollies, which I quite recommend as an economic option for NEC exhibitors and visitors. Its only 10 minutes drive away from the NEC and it’s located somewhere nice and quiet.

In terms of the show, there was much going on everyday! We managed to catch up with previous clients and associated companies as well as finding new potentials to work with.

There was a catwalk which attracted a lot of attention, and not to forget to mention I got a free caricature which was part of Straights marketing campaign!

RWM in 5 days! And Liverpool Echo!

It has been a tough week doing last minute preparations for the Recycling and Waste management exhibition which is in 5 days and counting down…

Things are coming along very nicely though. I have just received the posters and pens which I had sent over to print and the big banner and leaflets are arriving tomorrow! It is slightly tight in time and was getting a little anxious, but it has all working out (although should never speak too soon..)

Here are some pictures of the posters I have been spending so much time designing:

I can only upload the leaflet since the files of the banners and poster are way too large.

The GS-100 machine is a beast which can turn glass waste into usable sand hence eliminating glass bottle waste. It has already been installed in Carden Park hotel who are using it directly on their golf courses. You can check out more on the machine in our ‘Service’ and ‘Glass waste’ section.

Tomorrow there is a photographer who is coming to take photos of us and our products. These should be for the Liverpool Echo (a local newspaper) should they choose to publish the article. Will update more on that if it comes through!

Exhibiting in the RWM 14-16th Sept 10′

I hope everyone is liking our new website layout and design. This is thanks to the efforts of our online media & marketing manager Tony!

So what have we been so busy with? We have held quite a few exhibition testing the marketability of our new education products. We have finalised on our wiggo pods (originally the OvO) and recycle factory sets for recycling education. We exhibited in the Eco-school fair back in June which was a big success. There were a lot of interest in our education products from schools and teachers. We have a new website for the wiggo pods: www.wiggo.com. This website will allow children to learn how to recycle and compost online. Teaching games and material is also provided so that teachers are able to teach the topic of recycling easily and effectively.

Turn waste paper into solid train tracks and then run an electric train on it!

It has been a while since a personal update. It has been a busy time in BEEcycle. However after the constant persuasion (or should I say nagging) from my online media & marketing manager, I have set up a schedule to update this blog weekly. He claims this will boost up my google rankings, so I guess it is sacrifice of a weekend morning for the sake of business!

We are currently preparing for the RWM show which is starting of the 14th-16th September. We are promoting the GS100, a glass processing machine which breaks down glass bottles to sand instantly. We have already installed this in Carden Park hotel (which I will update on soon) and will be showcasing this to anyone visiting the show. We will be on stand 290 so please come visit us!
